Manchester United have reverted their decision to sack manager Erik Ten hag after a lengthy end-of- season review.
The Dutchman is in talks to sign a new contract with the club, after a ‘six-month trial’ during which Sir Jim Ratcliffe and bosses to look for other options. While Man Utd secured an 8th place finish at the Premier League during the 2023-24 season, Ten Hag likely redeemed himself by winning the FA Cup against Man City.
Partial Owner Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team have decided to let the Dutchman retain his job at Old Trafford following a detailed ‘end-of-season’ review.
Whats’ Next for Manchester United?
As Man Utd rebuild their roster for the next season, the club bosses thought that sacking Ten Hag would negatively affect the team as they prepare to assess and improve on their performance for the 2024-25 season. While the owners had plenty of options to replace the Dutchman, including Ipswich boss Kieran Mckenna, Thomas Frank and Mauricio Pochettino, their decision to let the ex-Ajax boss keep his job was indeed a sensible one.
While Man United fans weren’t pleased with the club’s performance during the 2023-24 Premier League season, they still didn’t want the Dutchman to be sacked from his job. It remains to be the seen how Erik ten Hag will move the squad in the next season after leading his team to win against rivals Man City at the FA Cup this year.
